A few weekends ago, mum took me to an event downtown called Barktoberfest! It was really fun! We got there around 11am, and aside from parking, everything was really smooth. We had to park a few blocks away but the weather was lovely and the walk through the streets of our wonderful downtown was refreshing. The event was geared towards dogs and owners alike. There were many booths set up to sample products, get information, and learn about other doggie things to do around Pensacola. Petsmart, Cain’s Dog House, and the Humane society all had fantastic booths with goodies and samples and coupons.
There was a mixed breed small dog race that unfortunately since mum didn’t have any cash (it was a $5 donation to register) all I could do was watch but boy was it super fun. Some dogs just sat there and looked at their mums like ok and,….. oh its time to run, ok, while others busted out of the gate like a bullet! Some ran half way and then decided to turn around and go the other way! so fun.
There was also a sample show pen. We tried it out. At each number you had to do a certain trick or walk. My favorite was weaving through the cones. So easy!
They had a few events such as the owner/dog look alike contest as well as a costume contest. There were some yorkies that really went all out. They were seated upon a table decorated like an underwater setting. Too cool! There was also a pink poodle. HAWT! Let me tell you!
There were also some human treat trucks. I believe mum and the kids had pizza from Papa Johns and some shaved ice. I would highly recommend going to this event if you are in the area in 2014. I really hope to see it again next year.
