January Project Life

Mums on a roll with her Project Life!  She’s actually right on schedule and keeping up.  WOW!  I wanted to share her weekly review for the month of January.

Week 1

This first week of the year, Mum and the kids went to visit Papa and Debra in Isle of Palms, SC.  They live near the beach, and while it is too cold to go into the ocean, we did get to do a few fun things!  Papa’s house has a room under neath with a foosball table. The boys spent a lot of time down there, playing the game and on their computers.  The great thing about where they live is there are several outdoor pools but get this, they are heated!!  So even when its 30 degrees outside, the water is nice and warm.  The kids had a great time swimming in the cold!!

This was also the week of the new year.  The club house put on a little party for the children, they played games such as tug of war, face the cookie, and Pool Bingo!  They ended the day with a ballon drop and stomp.

They returned home for the last part of the week and it was filled with much relaxing, along with a few dental appointments.

This week was a blast!!!  It started out with Isabelle and Mum making cake pops!  How fun!!
Grandma came down and I got to meet her.  The kids were super excited to spend the week with Grandma.  Mum and Dad went on a mini vacation to New Orleans.  While they were gone, the Grandma put together a little neighborhood pizza party.  She also taught Isabelle a little song that also uses hands. LOVE!  Mum and Dad visited New Orleans and stayed in a house mansion on Bourbon Street called The Lafitte Guest House.  It was absolutely beautiful!  Each room was decorated with period furniture.  They visited many places, took tours, ate beignets, drank chicory root coffee, tried alligator, did a little gambling, and of course drank a little!  It is a great place to visit and Mum says she recommends every one go there and experience the city at least once!
Grandma and Mum also got to out for dinner and a few drinks.

Week 3

This week started with their last day in New Orleans.  They ate some lunch at the Acme Oyster House and took the street car up and down New Orlenas. On the drive back they drove across the great river, they saw an amazing sunset!!  When Mum and Dad arrived home, they put the kids to bed and then went to see a movie.  It was called “HER” and the movie was about an advanced operating system (like windows….) that actually experiences life and learns from you.  In the movie people started “dating” their computers because the operating system actually learned how to experience life and it begins to develop a personality.
Mum and Grandma also saw a movie called August of Osage County.  It was about a dysfunctional family, but it was very wild….  On Grandma’s last night, we went to get some yogurt at 32 degrees.
Grandma had to go back to Virginia, but her flight was delayed allowing her and Mum to go out for lunch at Olive Garden.
Isabelle had ballet…
This week also was a themed week for Isabelle and Roy.  On Friday, they had inside out day and Isabelle wore her shirt and pants inside out.  She really got a kick out of that!
The weather was still unseasonable cold for Florida.  Roy had a day of soccer games over in Perdio Key.
What a great week!

This week Mum had work and JURY DUTY!  It was a great experience, Mum was not chosen to sit on the jury but she was a jury select and got to go through the process of the lawyers and judge asking questions to the jury.
Mum cooked some potato soup.
The boys spent the night out and Isabelle and Mum rented a few movies, one being Snow Queen, and spent the evening inside.
Another very cold week for Pensacola! This week it actually started raining frozen rain!  Mum took out her macro filters and caught one tiny piece of hail in the shape of a frog!  How cool!
Sean also cracked a tooth and we spend a few hours in the dental office getting that repaired.

SNOW DAYS IN FLORIDA!!!!  For the first time, the kids got off school for a snow day!!!  This was wonderful!  Isabelle has never seen snow before.  Now to be technical we did not get any snow, more like ice.  Everything was covered!
The kids were out of school for 3 days from this winter storm.

Mum also started experimenting with more embellishments on her project life pages, so stay tuned to see these come to life over the next few weeks!!

Long Time no SEE!

Sorry its been a few months since I’ve updated you on our life here.  We are all doing fine just crazy busy with the holidays,  Finally got some time to blog again.  Mum says wait until the kids go back to school but I’m going to try to get a little post up before they wake for the day.

First a little tidbit.  This year mum is doing something called Project Life so I’m going to take some snapshots of her album each week and blog it.  Hopefully that will keep me current on the goings on in our life to share with you guys.  Second she is again participating in a Project 52 from My Four Hens.  She did one two years ago and had a great time.  Since it will be more personal images vs her business shots she convinced me to blog them for her.  I think it will be fun!!  That’s all for now!  I hope everyone has a great Sunday and week ahead!  woof!

I’d love to catch everyone up on November real quick.  This month was crazy fun.  We all got together and went to Panama City.  We rented some rooms on the beach and despite the freezing temps, abnormally cold for this time of  year, dipping into the 30’s!!  I believe we had a great time!

Here are a few images from that trip.

Pre-Halloween Post

Yes, its that time a year!  Fall/Halloween!!  It is my first Halloween ever but I’m really digging this Holiday so far!  The family has decorated the yard, and even I was allowed out in the front yard to help a bit.  *gasp*  We have these two pumpkins which have been referred to as “perfect carving pumpkins” and these ghostly things hanging from the trees up front.

Inside the home is decorated as well.  We have a talking bowl, it is a head.  Very odd.  Another skull spits out M&M’s when you pull a little smaller bone on the side.

The kids have gotten various outfits, mum said I’m going to get one too she just can’t make up her mind.

Do you celebrate Halloween?  If so, how?

Sick Day. oh Joy! Tips for Treating a Child with a Cold or Flu

Today started really early when I was awaken from my cozy bed around 5am by the sounds of my Sissy crying.  Then she got sick.  Everywhere.  Then the oldest brother woke up, and also got sick.  It was a super fun morning for me, I don’t think my mom has even fed me yet, as she’s been busy washing, catching, and trying to prevent puke all morning.

Mom decided to keep both kids at home today.

When do you keep your children at home?  She found some helpful hints online and would like to share a list with you.

Fever of over 100 degrees
Vomiting
Symptoms which prevent normal actives such as:
excessive cough, headache, sore throat,

It looks like we will be staying home tomorrow as well as the guidelines for sending children back to school are 24 hours fever free WITHOUT the use of medications.

The first question that usually runs through any parents mind is, “Is this the flu or just a cold?”  There are a few ways to tell.  As always, please consult your doctor with any medical advice and/or questions, remember I’m just a dog……

According to WebMd, a cold usually starts with a mild sore throat that is bothersome for a few days, along with feeling tired or run down, but then goes away on its own.    A fever is not common with a cold, but a low grade temp is possible, especially in younger children.
The flu, however, comes on strong, with more severe symptoms then a cold, a high fever, intense headache, body aches, and chills.  With some flu strains vomiting and diarrhea can also occur, especially with the swine flu.   This can lead to dehydration, which is serious and may need to be seen by a doctor for IV fluids.   You may start to feel better after 2-5 days, but full recovery can take weeks.  Another side illness of the flu is pneumonia. This is a serious complication for the young, elderly, or those that are immune compromised.  If you notice the return of a fever after not having one for two or more days, and shortness of breath, this is a sign of pneumonia.

Here is a great flu vs cold chart!

How can you prevent cold and flu virus in your home?

#1 WASH THOSE PAWS!!  I MEAN HANDS!!!  WASH! WASH! WASH!  SOAP AND WATER!!!!
Proper hand washing lasts for at least 20 seconds, sing the A,B,C’s or Happy Birthday.  Make it FUN!  There are so many inexpensive soaps that make hand washing something kids love to do!!

#2  Teach your children to cover their mouths when they sneeze or cough!
Sneeze into your sleeve!  or Tissues!!

#3  Please, don’t smoke around your children (or pets) Its just not nice.

#4  Follow up and after care!
After they feel better, remember to wash all clothing and sheets in hot water, sanitize all surfaces, and if possible air out the room.
Don’t forget to clean door knobs, toilet bowl handles and REMOTE CONTROLS!!

I hope this post was helpful!  Please share your tips in the comment section.  Sharing is caring, except in the case of cold and flu germs!  Keep those to yourself!  😉

So what do we do when we have a sick day?  well take photos of course!

Stevie Review! Cain’s Dog House

I’ve been going to Cain’s Dog House my entire life so far.  Well except for once I went to Pet Smart and that was not a fun experience at all.  I’m so glad my mum found Cain’s.  They are super friendly there, they know me by name even before they are told.  They offer all kinds of services including boarding.  Their prices are very affordable and I’m happy to recommend Cain’s to anyone in the area.

I am not so sure I like the little bandana they give me but mum sure likes it, so I guess I’ll just go with it.  I love bath day!  I can’t wait until the next one!
